To foster girls’ growth, strength, and ability to take on future
challenges.
G-ROW
BOSTON is an innovative program that uses rowing to teach girls of all
cultures, backgrounds, and abilities the importance of relationships,
the benefits of exercise, and the power they have to create a positive
future for themselves. Our program is based on the following principals:
-
Adolescence
is a critical time in a girls’ development, and rowing in a
supportive environment gives them the confidence to find their
voices and discover their strengths.
-
Rowing
teaches lessons that translate to life off the water: dedication,
perseverance, responsibility, trust, compromise, continuous
learning, hard work, courage, balance, and teamwork.
-
G-ROW’s
all-girl environment offers girls the opportunity to see the
strength in themselves and each other, to persevere and accomplish
things on their own, and to feel comfortable in their bodies.
-
A solid
academic foundation increases girls’ options for the future and
helps them to make informed choices.
-
Diversity -
of background and experience, approach and personality, size and
physical ability, culture and interests - strengthens the team.
-
Strong
relationships with positive adult role models are critical to
girls’ growth.
-
Providing
rowing to populations that historically have not had access to it,
enriches the community and the sport of rowing as a whole.
